Hey guys!
I've got a 66 styleside with a 240 inline six. I have a couple of v-8's that I could put in it but I want to be a little different from my Mustang buddies (other than driving a truck). I was wondering what I could do to the 240 that would make it run with the "Ponies"?
I like to think that a customized turbo would do the trick. Exercise extreme caution though, turbos are a sticky here. I agree w/Harte3 though, that a search would give you quite a few ideas.

Just having an inline six is different in and of itself. I belong to a group of 4 wheelers and I am the only one running a fullsize rig with a six cylinder engine. They always ask me when I am going to put a "real motor" in there, I just laugh and say "I don't feel like having to rebuild it after 150000 miles!" Last summer everyone broke something at least once when we were out playing. They broke major components like oh motors, trannys, transfer cases, rearends. I broke a radius arm that's it! I always wonder if it's such a piece of junk, why is it still runnin strong, even after all that abuse? The funny part is my little six shooter is commonly seen pulling stuck or broken vehicles back to civilization. You should be proud to have a Ford straight six in your truck, I firmly believe you will be hard pressed to find another motor that can stand up to the punishment and come back begging for more! BTW I have my 300 warmed up a bit: .040 over, RV cam, Offy DP intake, Holley 2bbl carb, Hedman header, MSD ignition, she runs strong! I am running it in an 84 F150 regular cab long bed with the NP435/NP208, 4" suspension lift, 33" mudders, 4.10 gears with a locker in the rear and LSD up front... she's a tank!

The inline six cylinder engines are fun to tinker with and very easy to work on. I really enjoy working on them, everything is so easy to get to on them. My girlfriend has the trusty ol 4.0 I6 in her Jeep Grand Cherokee, that is really easy to work on too. Not to mention, you can beat the crap out of them and they come back begging for more!
