I have a 2001 F350 Powerstroke that I affectionately named "The Clatterin Diesel". At any rate on my way home tonight I pulled into the driveway and put it into reverse and a dinging noise started sounded like I had my door ajar or something but my doors were shut and seatbelt was on. I put it in drive to pull forward and the dinging noise kept dinging about every 5 seconds. I turned the lights off and the dinging kept on until I turned the truck off. I am curious as if anyone has had that problem before and what to do about it. In another question I would like to know how to get my clearance lights to work as they do not work with either my parking lamps on or my head lights and I have looked in the owners manual and can not find a fuse for this operation. Any and all help would be appreciated.
As for the clearance lights, check your wiring. I don't have them (don't think I can get into my garage if I had 1 inch extra height) but from what I understand the wiring harness connects to the main harness behid the passenger kick panel. I would start there to see if you have voltage. Maybe it got disconnected?
I appreciate all the help so far. As for the ding...I have a full tank of fuel. Rarely do I use my turn signals and i live out in the country so I wouldnt have used it to turn into my driveway. I dont have a backing alarm. It just started dinging out of nowhere. I have a 2 hour drive to work tomorrow and I sure hope it fixes itself before then.
Does your truck beep five times, then pause for a bit, and then beep five times again, and so on? If so, it's related to the airbag system, and is the truck's way of telling you there's an issue such as a burnt out air bag bulb in the dash.
