I have absolutely no idea what this beeping is for but it just won't quit doing it . My truck upon start-up will make 5 sets of 5 beeps like there is something wrong with it but then the beeping stops and unless im driving for more than 30 min or so then it wont come on again. However, if I am driving for longer than 30 min or so then it will start the 5 sets of 5 beeps again for every 30 minutes that I am driving. This is becoming extremly annoying and I think that its strange because there are no trouble codes or idiot lights coming on to suggest a problem.
One of my buddies said that he had a problem similar to mine and they had to remove the alarm system because he had dropped the key pad in some water, but his truck had an alarm system and mine (from what I can tell) doesn't. So im figuring he was thinking of something else and that my problem is different.
Would appriciate any advice in trouble shooting especially any first hand experiences with a problem like this.
Does the air bag light self test when you turn the ignition on? It should go on for a few seconds and then turn off. If it doesn't then the beep will happen to alert you to an airbag system problem. It could be as simple as a burned out bulb.
Yep, I'd say its your "belt minder" (aka seat belt chime), try wearing your seat belt and see if it stops. If it does you can look in the owners manual and there are instructions on how to disable it so it won't ding anymore.

I've heard the same thing. Turn the key to "ON" and see if the ABS light comes on.
I don't think its the seat belt because I wear my belt religously and there isn't a problem with the light coming on when I start up the truck. Haven't thought about the airbag light so I go check that out and post back in a minute.
It's related to the air bag system (AIR BAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM aka SRS), not the anti lock break system (ABS). Here's some copied text that you can find in your owners manual:
"Determining if the system is operational
The SRS uses a readiness light in the instrument cluster or a tone to
indicate the condition of the system. Refer to Air bag readiness section
in the Instrument cluster chapter. Routine maintenance of the air bag is
not required.
A difficultywith the system is indicated byone or more of the following:
• The readiness light will either
flash or staylit.
• The readiness light will not
illuminate immediatelyafter
ignition is turned on.
• A series of five beeps will be heard. The tone pattern will repeat
periodicallyuntil the problem and/or light are repaired.
If anyof these things happen, even intermittently, have the SRS serviced
at your dealership or by a qualified technician immediately. Unless
serviced, the system may not function properly in the event of a
collision."

Well that sounds about right. Do you have any idea what this will cost me, I know the stealership will probably charge me an arm and a leg but do you have any idea what someone else might charge?
Shux I have no idea what the dealership or a private shop would charge. Something like the airbag system would probably be best-handled by the dealer, I'm sorry to say.
no, not an arm and a leg, more like 2 arms, 1 leg, and just to hurt you more, they would probably cut something else off if they had the chance.....lol......
The only problem with that is then it shows that I've had a wreck and then my rates will go up. But I'm wondering if the bags need to be replaced, is there a way to get some good ones out of a junk yard and keep from having to pay for the factory price. Then at least I could save a few bucks.
