Do a search and you will see that Bilstiens get the majority of the votes on here which I would agree with. I have the dr signature series shocks and like them fine with the kit.

Thumbs up

Check out KYB gas shocks. I replaced the oem with them, have Timbrens front and rear, a Hellwig aftermarket rear sway bar (larger diameter than Ford's) and nearly new Mastercraft Courser A/Ts (285 16") on factory steel wheels and I can navigate the tightest highway exit ramps at 45-50 mph with almost no body roll and absolutely no wheel hop. Bought all 4 KYBs on ebay for $179 + shipping. I thought it was a good deal and the truck rides and handles well for over 6500 lbs. unloaded. (3 RKI tool boxes, Trac Racs and a pile of tools add significantly to the rear end weight)

One vote here for the Bilsteins. Been on for about 2 months now and no problems whatsoever. My truck is stock, and the ride is great with the new shocks.

i have had both bilsteins and ias on cars and i kind of prefer the ias for there ability to be both soft on small bumps but wtill keep things nice and tight, but i am wondering if they would be ok for a truck as i have seen more people comment on the bilsteins

On my last truck (a '98 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4) I replaced the worn out OEM shocks with the Edelbrock IAS shocks and was EXTREMELY dissapointed. Felt like someone forgot to add shock oil to the shocks. The truck actually rode worse than with the worn-out Dodge gas shocks. So I pulled the Edelbrocks and installed the Bilsteins. Now the Dodge rode like I pumped up the tires to 80 psi.

So now with my Super Duty I'm ordering the Rancho 9000X shocks.

I used Rancho 9000s on my last truck and hated them. They were very stiff, ride quality was terrible.

That truck rode like a truck before the RS9000s. Afterwards it rode like a truck with solid rubber tires.

I have a leveling kit on my 06 F350 and also wanting to upgrade my shocks. I was wondering if anybody has tried the procomp mx-6 shocks and if they are any good. I was also considering the rs9000x aswell. I work in the oil patch and drive on alot of rough gravel roads. I am just sick of the truck bouncing all over the place. The fake ranchos just suck to bad. ANyways thanks for the info.

I think and empty truck rides crappy. Put some weight in it. Screw the mpg. Mine is loaded with about 300-400 lbs of tools and new Edelbrock IAS shocks. Rides okay for me.

it wasn't on an sd, but i made the mistake of replacing 55k mile old oem bilstiens on my suburban with rancho 9000's. if you dialed them up, the compression valving was ok, but the rebound damping was way too soft. really not very impressed. never found a setting that i liked. definitely not going to get them for my sd.
