I've got a 90 bronco 2. Its got a set of 32-10.5 mudders under it. We have a bunch of trails out on my uncles farm. Everything from 6 inches deep to trucks with 49" 's being burried up to body. Just wondering some things I can do protect my motor from water going into it? I've gone into a couple of deeper holes and had water splash up on my motor and had the truck stall out. Let if sit for about 5 min and it fires right back up. Any ideas as to what causes this, and how I might prevent? I guess I'm just looking for some advice to on how I protect my truck from water damage, and make it perfrom a little better offroad.
Thanks,
Rick
Usually water spraying on the distributor from the fan..
You could get electric fans and turn them off when you're coming up to a big puddle, theres another thread going on about this right now, take a look at that.
I went to the doctor once, and told him "hey doc, it hurts when I go like this", he replied, "then don't do that any more, and you will be fine".
The moral of the story is to not do things that can cause pain. Water is a very bad hazard. But if you must go swimming, a sealed electical system would not hurt. Keeping the ecm dry is crucial. I use 'Tupperware' to seal all of my components. I install the lids when I am gonna get really wet, and remove them when I am runnin rocks and stuff The dist cap can be sealed with some silicone,as well as the wires. Then you may consider a snorkel for your truck to keep H20 out of the intake. Happy swimming.....
