Hi fellas....I have a question. When i was having my flowmasters installed yesterday the mechanic told me to watch my water level that my heater core may be bad. He said he realized that the windows would fog up or something like that. Anyways...how could i tell if the heater core was leaking or not?
Also my power locks only work correctly once or twice at a time. Sometimes not even once, but after that they will only pop about halfway up to unlock or not go down when i hit lock so i have to do it manually...if anyone knows a quick fix it would be cool.
Thanks for all help FTE.
*edit*
sorry forgot to add the truck is a f150, 5.4L, ext. cab, v8, 4x4 off road, it is a 1999 model with 80k miles.
heater core usually has a sweet smell in the cab or wet carpet on the passenger side and the windows will fog up. as for the power locks I used wd 40 on ours they got sticky too. work good now
You can have the cooling system pressure tested at a local radiator shop that you know and trust. Otherwise, what the mechanic was trying to tell you is that he noticed that the windows were fogged up and that is a sign of a coolant leak from the heater core. If you clean the inside windows and it fogs up again in a few days and especially if you notice a sweet smell, then I would definitely get the pressure test.
The other problem is the actuators for the door locks that are failing. Replace them and the locks will go back to normal operation.

Thanks J&B i'll definetly try the wd40. Thank you also kingranch...if the wd40 doesn't work then i'll have the actuators done, but hopefully wd40 will work and it will be a quick simple fix. I'm not sure it would be the actuators tho becuase after they stop working and i hit the lock or unlock i can hear the locks trying to pop up or down its just the little tabs in the truck won't go up or down all the way.
If anyone one else would like to comment on the heater core opinions are welcome.
Thanks,
TJ
Hi, just rode in the truck about 15 miles only tho but i didn't really realize any fog...how noticeable is the fog that the vents put out? (reminding you it was at night, maybe i just didn't see it and i should check at daytime?)
Also do you think maybe when i got the flowmasters installed they may have pinched a wire or something causing the locks to act up? And if so where would this wire be located?
Thanks for all the help....this is the best for forum out there.
I cant immagine there being a lock wire any where near a flowmaster would go.that is if your talking about flowmaster exaust. as for the fog it wont look like a big cloud coming out of the vent usually lower windshield will fog up .
kk thank you...hopefully the core isn't bad. I don't think it is becuase it has been 2 days and the water level hasn't dropped any and i haven't really realized the fog so maybe it's good. As for the locks idk just spent over 2 grand on the truck in an in dash dvd, xplod door panel speakers, amp and woofers, and those flowmasters so it may be a while before i worry about those locks : ( .

Welcome to FTE El Meca. I don't know right off hand what the air bag code is. Try posting this as a new topic in the SuperDuty forum a little farther down on the main forum list page. Good luck!

Yes, it can, and will come out of the vents like a white cloud. Mine did. It got to the point where when I opened my doors after a long drive, you could see the smoke cloud come out. I had to ride for a couple of months with my window down in 20-30* weather just to keep from gagging or passing out. My windows never fogged up either.
