i am fixing to spend domr money and need some information. i want some good injectors , i tow alot and still have the stock tranny so not to much power. i have a superchip but want a different programmer. is the wicked wheel worth the money?? exhaust, 4 or 5 inch and what brand. thankyou for all the help.
I think you answered your own question on the injectors. They should be way down your mod list, especially if looking to setup for towing. Wicked wheel is definetaly worth the money (will help with turbo surge). get the wicked wheel some gauges (egt, boost, trans temp) a dp-tuner chip with 40 tow and 60 tow atleast and a spearco intercooler for about the same price as the injectors your truck is not ready for.
This will make your truck a new vehicle as far as towing and set you back less then $2000 anyways. I'm sure the automatic guys will suggest the rest with transmission.
Dpwilson gave you agood start but I would skip the spearco. wicked wheel $75, gauges $300, dp-tuner chip $3-400, then I would tymar intake $130, 4" exhasut with a 3.5 inch downpipe $3-500,a BTS valve body $250 and if you have money for it a billet torque converter $500-$1000
also after injector would come a intercooler upgrade. and depending on how big of injectors you may need oil and fuel to support it (anything over stage 1's)
if you planing on injectors skip the WW you will need a bigger turbo to clean them up. ditch the Superchips for some custom tuning. Go with a 4" exhaust 5 isnt needed the Diy intake will take care of an intake system. Give us a call if yuo wan tprice or soem specific info and any of the item you intrested in

Some beginning mods are:
Gauges pyro boost and trans $300 from www.puredieselpower.com
DIY TYMAR intake $40 from napa p/n 6637or less at www.fleetfilter.com p/n 46637
5" exhaust from MKO Diesel or ebay $295
CCV mod less then $10 from napa or the like
Custom chip from dp tuner $450 ish
Valve body for the transmission so it won't puke. $250 from brians truck shop
That should start to put a dent in your wad, and you'll be comin back for more
ok i left out some things that are already done, like guages i got them as soon as i got the truck, boost pyro and tranny. the truck has 180000 miles on it and it stays on the road. i was told that the stock injectors are good for 150000 or so. so i am on borrowed time with them. i am gooing under the valve covers for the glowplugs and was going to do injectors while i was in there. the super chips is going away. i have the diy intake. i am just looking for 40 horse or so injectors. i am getting a 4 inch exhaust this week. am i wrong on how long the injectors last??
Well if you get a DPtuner chip, i could guarantee that the power gain over a Superchips or an off-the-shelf tuner will feel like adding 50 or 75hp injectors. Try a DP tuner and see if you arent satisfied with the tuning. Freaking amazing.
I believe Kennedyford got over 440,000 miles out of a set of stock injectors. A truck that TOWS all of it's life.
I had over 260,000 miles on my 99 with stock sticks... your a long way from injectors. You need to skip the WW if your even thinking about injectors. Get a GTP-38r or a Turbonetics drop in turbo to replace your stocker all together, or you will spend your money twice.
