Adelphia internet service just changed over to Comcast as well. I'll have to look into it. I just posted that clip i uploaded seperate from the rest, and the turbo whistle one is not better either.
I was referring to 1. Here is a video clip that is a little better and you may hear some of the flutter. I can't hear the same flutter im talking about in real life, however this is a better clip.
Ah yes, I could hear it in that clip, about mid way through you can really hear that high pitched hummingbird noise.
If your talking about this straight whistle, thats just the turbine noise, coming out of the exhaust, with straight pipe you can hear it really well. What most people talk about when they say flutter, i believe, is most noticeable when you start out (atleast with an auto trans) If you have someone drive your truck in front of you, (from your left to right)..... Listen right after they hit the gas, with mild acceleration. It sounds alittle choppy, right when they get on the throttle. Thats what i believe people call flutter. You hear it from the exhaust. Now a high pitched, constant whistle, that does change pitch with the speed of the turbo, is just turbine noise, but its sound is most noticed from the exhaust pipe, especially when straight piped. Hope that helps.
Edit: The high pitched whistle you hear in the cab, from the engine bay is from the compressor wheel, and the chuffa chuffa chuffa chuffa, (but extremely fast, as chuffa chuffa doesnt sound fast to say) is turbo surge, and is most likely to be heard, in OD with lower rpms,(under 2k generally i believe) climbing a mountain.
I had mine straight piped, with stock exhaust, and i didnt like its flutter sound, enough so that i put a straight through 3.5" glass pack muffler that got rid of most of it. Although from what i understand and have heard, the bigger the pipe, the better it sounds straight. soo maybe someday when i go to 5" it will be straight again. I also experienced turbo surge, which is easliy noticed with an improved air filter system, 6637 or afe, etc.. and even more so noticed with a 10k mod or programmer/ chip and the intake work. Easiest way to tell, like i said would be in OD up a mountain, low rpms, and trying to accelerate, essentially luggging the motor.
