I used 6 ton jack stands because they are taller, and have had to take the tires off to get the axles to drop far enough. I have also jacked it in stages to keep building higher under it.

Big a$$ jackstands, and platforms (very sturdy) under the stands when they do not reach. Also remove tires to lower axle instead of raising the truck further. Oh yeah make sure you do not lift it in the garage, makes it kinda tough to get it out after the lift is installed. LOL!

I laughed when I read that...but ya know..that's darn good advice. Sounds like something I would do! Man, what a bummer that would be.

I bought my 6 ton jackstands at Autozone. I bet most auto parts stores carry them.

I purchased my really big stands at a "semi-truck" parts house. They stand about 30 inches from the ground, at the lowest setting.

Northern tools carries nice heavy duty ones. I usually lift the vehicle one way or another with my hi-lift jack and then slide a jack stand under it.
