I'm new to this forum, and I have searched for the answer, but to no avail...
I'm trying to put in new rear speakers in my 2002 Ranger. I took the covers off, and I couldn't find any wires. Are the Rangers pre-wired for rear speakers
or do I have to run them myself?
Any help on this matter would be great1
Thanks!
(FYI, the wire harness in the back of the radio has wires for the speakers attached...)
Papa64: When I took off the speaker cover, there was NO EXISTING speaker. So I am guessing there is no EXISTING speaker wire already there for me to just "hook it up"? I'll have to run the wire myself?
sorry i missed the part where there is just no speaker. on the back of the factory unit, you will see multi colored wires in pairs.
2 front speakers will have 4 wires.
blue/purple or combo clors with no black line will be the positive. unplug one and turn on radio to see which speaker it goes to.
for the negative you will have a black line in the wire.
you have no back speakers, so you would have zip tied wires in the back that dont plug into anything. run speaker wire to the back from there. make your own positive and negative (mark with electrical tape). if no wires for the back then you need to put in an after market radio and run the wires yourself, very easy to do.
now if you bought this vehicle used and some **** took the speakers then you most likely have wires there in the back of the radio.
ask more questiones if you need to, i installed radios in high school for a hobby.
