Been having some issues with my 99 being hard to start on some occasions. thanks to you guys I believe its the gpr or gp. today i hooked a borrowed superchip code reader to it (semi- read the instructions). it said reprograming to stock so i quickly unplugged it before it could finish.going to drive home and get my buddy to use it. the wait to start light did not come on and the service engine soon light came on. would not start. used a screwdriver on the glow plug relay to cross it, cycled it a few times still not starting. did i screw up? hooked it to my buddies truck read his exhaust code. on mine it said NO Response i hope i didnt fry the pcm or something. hopefully it the glow plugs or the relay. ANY help before i take it to the stealership Please.
does anyone have a printout of where each fuse goes or does the fuse box have it listed thanks. would that make the service engine light come on? and by touching the 2 big terminals on the gpr could i have blown a fuse because it sparked when i touched it with the screwdriver
Shouldnt have unless you hit one of the small trigger wires by accident. PM me your email address and I can send you the drawing. If you have the owners manual it is in there.
Be sure to check fuse #30 under the panel below the steering wheel. It is for the fuel bowl heater and PCM relay. If the fuel bowl heater shorts, it'll blow that fuse and you will have no WTS light and no start. If that's the case for you, unplug the connection at the fuel bowl for the fuel bowl heater or it'll blow the fuse again.
The fuse I mentioned is only the issue if the WTS light is not illuminating when you turn the key to Run. If the WTS light is coming on as it should, then the PCM is getting power fine.
Tuff, is your WTS light coming on? If it is not, a gpr won't do anything to help the situation, nor will ether (which you should not use unless the glow plugs are turned off).
If the WTS light is still the issue, have to figure that one out, first, because if the PCM doesn't get power, the injectors won't fire.
edit - Greg, I'm sending you a telepathic message... we'll each post again in 5 minutes and we can try to post the same exact thing again.

wait to start light is not on. yesterday morning it came on.plugged in for a few minutes started fine. after a 10hr shift, the light did not come on and would not start. could a sensor be telling the truck its warm and the light not come on.the pcm fuses check ok. a diesel tech said a shot of ether would help fire it up????
If the PCM is getting power the WTS light will come on at KEY ON no matter what. I just sent the diagram sorry for the delay. If ALL Fuses and relay prove out OK I would suspect a corrupted PCM program due to unplugging the SC while it was downloading. Give Superchips a call like clint suggested if the fuses or relays are not the issue.

I'm tellin you, don't spray ether with the gp's hooked up.
Unhook them, or don't use ether. Unless you want a tip to break off and destroy your engine, or at least make you pull the head to get it out.
