If you're still under warranty, then tell them that it runs rough for the first few minutes in the morning and it clears up afterwards. TSB 06-22-03 does include 2003 F-series, it's E-series that is not included until 2004 (because there was no 6.0 E-series in 2003). And if you're paying the bill yourself, just tell them that you want it done, I imagine that they would (or atleast should) charge you less than your deductable.
nope, she has 112,000 on the clock. BUT I did take it in a few weeks ago for the recall. At that time i asked if they will do the flash with the injector cycling, he came back and said that I was runing the latest he had and my injectors do not cycle on shutdown. So if i could go back with a CD number or something I can get it done for free.
I did change the oil to 5-40 rotella today. i will so if that helps.
Then they must not have the correct software loaded on to their IDS. Either that, or it was done incorrectly, because I have done several 06E17 recalls, and when done properly, they will update the FICM to the latest calibration.

There's nothing to worry about. Flash updates are important... IMO...

Went back to the dealer, this time i got a different tech, he said that the ECM was on the new flash but the FICM and the trans computer was on the old one, he updated everything and it works great now!!
I had the 06E17 flash done in March '06 when the truck was still under warranty. When I was in Maine over the hollidays, the truck would idle like crap and smoked untill it warmed up. Since I had the flash done in March it didn't have the cycle of the injectors in it. When I call my friendly Ford dealer and described the cold start problem he said I should have the revised flash done and that would solve the problem. BUT he said since I'am out of warranty, I will have to pay for the revised flash. I have the extended warranty and still would be responsible for the 1 hour labor to do the flash. Is this correct or are they just looking for a little extra money?

That's what I figured had happened. Most folks (myself included) will automatically pick the PCM out of the reflash menu, because it will reflash the PCM, FICM and TCM in one (lengthy) operation. But if the PCM is already up to date, the scan tool will tell you that. So if you then don't try to physically reflash the FICM, you won't know whether or not it is up to date.
So you'll know, there is a new warranty action notice issued today. It has been found that 90% of problems caused by "stiction" can be repaired by reprogramming to the new flash. If a dealer replaces injectors without flashing first, the cost can be charged back to the dealer (can exceed $1500). There might be a lot more dealers flashing now!

I'm aware of this... believe you me! They tried to charge one back to me last week. A few weeks ago, I did a reprogram, parked it outside over night to recheck it, and it still missed. I then replaced 2 injectors to fix the problem. Warranty came back saying that I replaced the injectors BEFORE I did the reprogram... I said, "that's funny, I didn't see you watching me". Warranty is getting pretty **** the past few months, and I think it's just a sign of things to come.
