Question for Auto Enginuity users

I'm running the latest version 14.1.1 and the live data menu doesn't show any PIDs for EBP. I talked to Bill at tech support, and he explained that it would show up in the menu if those parameters were available to the pcm. Apparently the faux version he has shows PIDs for pressure and volts. He suggested connecting to another 6L to see if it's specific to my truck.

So now I'm wondering, is this because my truck is an early 03 model with the latest factory flash, using inferred EBP values?

At least I think it's the latest flash. Latest reprogramming was April 2005 under the 06E17 recall.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I have an older version of AutoEnginuity - 5.3.

It does not read EBP correctly. Show consistently 90-95 psi. Same for the SCT tuner.

DashBoss reads it correctly.

I believe on the 05 and up models torque pro does, but haven't seen any data logs on the 03-04's.

2003/04 Computer Programming Recall 06E17:

Truck built before 9-29-03 are being recalled to have the computer reprogrammed. The reason for this recall is to correct fuel injection timing during cold operation, EGR valve control, lack of power, check engine light illumination (P02263 or P0299), hard starting and rough running concerns related to Exhaust BackPressure sensor corrosion. Other symptoms not listed in this recall, but which could occur, would be excessive smoke, turbo control and surging at idle or cruise. The new update eliminates the EBP sensor input to the computer. The exhaust backpressure will now be inferred/calculated using other sensor signals. Trucks should be reprogrammed using versions 41.8 or 42.1 or higher.

As you stated, if your truck's PCM does not see the EBP sensor & uses inferred readings - then you probably wont be able to see it through the OBDII port either. The only option I could think of would be to read the voltage directly from the sensor.

But, would it even matter to read it since the PCM is not using it? Unless you would like to have a "stand alone" type reading to see EBP.

I may revert back to a pre-inferred EBP tune. From what I've read, they offer better mileage and more power, as they don't retard the injectors when one goes weak. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that Ford did it just to minimize warranty work, what with the EBP sensor tubes plugging-up every 15k miles.

Thanks for the input guys! At least I know my truck isn't an anomaly. At least not in this regard.
