Ranger Heater core

Hello. This is my first post. I have a 1997 2.3 ltr S/C ranger that may need a new heater core or fix. It blows steam into the cab but I don't see any leaks. Is it possible to correct without pulling the core? I understand the 97's may require the entire dash to be pulled to access the core. Any advice on where I can get detailed instructions on this procedure?

I will try myself with a mechanic friends help.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
