I put it my hydraulic lifters giving myself about .025-.035" of preload.. What is it going to end up in later miles will it slam into my vavles whats the best way to do it..??
If the intake is still off it's easy. if its together and running thats the best way.
not running.......
get the cylinder on TDC of the compression stroke (where it would fire) and loosen the rocker so there is no drag on the pushrod, it's hard to fill the drag on a new lifter because the spring inside them is all you have for pressure to fill the drag. So make sure it's right at 0 preload....(the plunger in the lifter is up against the retainer that holds it in). I like to do all the valves to 0 preload then go back and turn all of them 1/2 turn. 1/4 to 1/2 turn is where they say it should be.
with it running just start at the first rocker and loosen it until it starts to tick and then tighten it until it stops go to the next one and so on. Now shut it down and turn all the nuts 1/2 turn.......done.
