Better flowing lower intake...

What's a better flowing lower intake for the 302EFI motor that they put in our 92-96 F-150/Bronco's? I heard something about a Ford Explorer 5.0 lower intake being the ticket maybe?

The truck lower flows a good amount stock, I believe that the upper is the problem. The aftermarket Holley manifolds for mustangs use the same ports as the truck intake. The explorer manifold doesn't match the truck upper, so you would have to use both upper and lower from the explorer. The explorer used a cast GT40 intake manifold, similar to what was used on the mustang cobras and f150 lightning trucks. It will probably offer some improvement over the stock truck intake manifold, but the throttle linkage would require modification to mate to the single throttle.

The 5.0 truck intake has HUGH runners, every other factory Ford intake has smaller runners, in terms of cross section and probably length. That includes the 5.8 truck, GT40/Explorer, and Mustang intakes. The 5.0 truck intake is in no way a choking point.. it probably flows too much and is likely responsible for the poor low rpm performance of this motor. It's my personal opinion that the Mustang or Explorer intake would produce more power across the board in a 5.0 F150, because the smaller runners generate higher intake air velocity and pack the cylinders better.

What intake would you suggest then? I am also contemplating a change to my truck(93 F150 w/ 5.0l) like a cam, thumper ported heads, swapping in a 5.8L & possibly MAF conversion.

If you're updating the 5.0 motor forget about changing the intake...it's not a restriction. If you are swapping in a 5.8, then do this first because it uses a completely different intake than the 5.0, they are not interchangable.
