If you look just above the rear bumper, you'll see a small hole (might be easier to see with the rear hatch open). Under the rear seat you should find a metal rod. Take the jack handle, which you'll find in the compartment on the left side of the cargo area, and assemble it to one end of the rod. The other end of the rod goes into the hole.
Crank the rod counterclockwise, and the spare tire will drop down. You might want to wear gloves, as the spare will be covered in grime.
The jack handle is also your lug wrench - I should have mentioned that. If you don't have the lug wrench/jack handle, you won't be able to lower the spare or remove the lug nuts if you have a flat. Go to the junkyard and get one, it won't cost that much.
