1960 tranny swap
Chances are you may not need a new bellhousing. If you have the old tranny out, compare the imput shafts on each, measure the bolt pattern on each tranny. I've swapped them on flatheads with 6's and done several on 289-302 engines. The major problem you might incurr is the driveshaft length and the tranny mount itself.if you have access to a set of 57-63 parts catalogs, you can check there.

I've got a T-98 4 spd/granny behind my 292 that (hopefully) will be swapped for a 4spd overhead rail o/d tranny soon, that you can take off my hands for me... E-mail's below, let me know if you're interested.

Hi, I looked it up for you. The bellhousing from an 8 cyl. is definately different than that of a 223. Looks like you will definately need a bellhousing from a 223.
Part numbers are:
8 cyl....3 speed standard = B8C 7505-A
223......3 speed standard = B8C 7505-B
8 cyl....3 speed HD, or 4 speed bellhousing = B8Y 7505-A
223......3 speed HD, or 4 speed bellhousing = B8Y 7505-B
