does anyone know i can install a f-250 bumper with the cut outs onto my f-150, ive always thought the 92s had the same frames. just wondering , and if i can, does anyone know were i can get one of those bumpers?
Should be the same frame. You can go to just about anyone. NPD, etc...the parts suppliers will have them. I'd list more but don't want to get in trouble with the moderators. Good luck.
If your going to mount a winch to that bumper I would think you would have to do some major bracing in. Granted it's a steel bumper but it's just there incase of collision. If your looking for a 4x4 winch style bumper I have seen some pretty elaborate ones on Bronco's. I am sure they make them for the truck also as they are basically the same vehicle within reason.
not too the bumper, they make winch mounting plates the bolt to the frame, im just talking about having the cable coming out the cut out on those style bumpers, i like the stock look, and keeping it all hidden is my thing
oh, whether they make brakets to bolt a wench to a f-150 frame i am not familiar with. Although with all the companies out there making aftermarket parts I am sure someone has, and if not I am sure it could be fab'd up. Now if you run the cable out the hole in the bumper....when you go to use the wench the cable will rub against the plastic inserts or the bumper. It could cause the cable to fray over time. That is why there are specifically designed rollers (there is another name for it...just can't think of it) for this task as not to fray the cable.
actually, i might have to rig my own mounts, if i use the mounts that i was talking about, i would have to move the bumper "out " some, would be alot of trouble, i would mind mount the rollers to the bumper, just dont really want a big custom off road bumper, look nice though, too much damn money, like a thousand bucks for a good one, thats alot of money.
they do make kits to bolt winch behind bumper. Kid next door bought one . can't see a thing but rollers and cable hook. You are talking about the newer turbo style bumper ??( I never saw older 92 down with holes and I had fuelly truck .) Front of frames are different on them And theses could be had on the newer 90's F150 as wel as F250 + They don't /wont follow your body line if so. But you can bolt anything with fab work. Get bumper at FORD, EBAY ,aftermarket . Paint back of aftermarket before installe they last longer. good luck.
Russ... The frames on a F150 & F250 have most of the same dementions but are differant. The bumpers are the same for the same year trucks. No a 92 bumper will not just bolt on to a 99 & up truck.
Yes mounts are made to hide most winches behind the bumpers.
Actually, the '92 - '96 trucks all have the same bumper. In '96 they put the F-250 style (cut-outs) on the F-150 trucks only for that year and since the '92 - '96 F-150's are all the same basically as far as body parts and what not, it should be a direct bolt on. I highly doubt they would make seperate similar looking bumpers for the F-150 and F-250. These bumpers with the cut-outs were also available in the '96 year only on the Bronco. But most commonly they are found on the F-250 but I do not know what year they became available on these trucks. They may have also been available on the F-350 as well. These bumpers only work on the '92 - '96 body styles of the F-150. Good luck.
