Any way to adapt a 302 to the stock 3-speed trans in my 58 F-100? It came with a 223 straight 6 .Thanks. Would I need to move the radiator and use new fan shroud?
You'll need a bellhousing from a later model truck wich had a 240,300,six or a 302,351w and a 3 spd I think the years you want would be 67-78 but don't take this as gospel. I know the bolt pattern will work but I'm not sure on crossmember mounts you may have to fabricate some
Thanks. Would the bellhousing from a 4 speed work? Will the existing fan shroud work with the new engine? I am guessing the 302 is shorter than the 222 in-line 6 cylinder.
Just curious you had a existing fan shroud. I have a 57 and it did not have a fan shroud, but maybe it should have. Kenny or someone does my 57 have a fan shroud.

In my parts catalog, it only shows a shroud being available on F-350 (with dual wheels), Parcel delivery, School bus, tilt cabs, and bigger f-series.

to Ken: I recently purchased a 1960 F-350 and as far as I can tell, this bad boy is original (with fan shroud). I have the 292 V-8 with 4-speed. I am looking for tune-up specs. E-mail is whomrig(No Email Addresses In Posts!)....thank you...
My recommendation is to go with an electric fan they're not that expensive and don't rob engine horsepower. If that won't work for you then if the fan ends up within an inch to two inches from the radiator you can probably get away without one. Definately get an aftermerket temp gauge put it all together and see how it works. If it runs hot put a shroud on it. If it still runs hot try the electric or get a bigger (more rows) radiator.
