What Blocks?

Hey Guys,

I have read several different articles/messages on this board about the different engines and bell housing patterns?

Which engines have the same bellhousing patterns as the venerable 302?

Thanks

300 six (other inline sixes?), 302 and 351W (and 351C, but that's a whole different animal)

351M and 400 share the 460 429 pattern...I believe

6 bolt bells, 300/6, later 289,302,351W......

the 260 and early 289 had a 5 bolt pattern bell, hard to find..my brother just got one for his 260 that's going in a BII....

I thought you had to have some kind of a shim between the block and bellhousing to bolt in a 429 where a 351M was located, something about the torque converter going in to deep in the block?

Is this correct?

Thanks for all the info

not sure...never did anything with big blocks. But my brother got a 351M C4 bell that he used on his C5 he built for his 64 fairlane 460.....

and My buddy used a 351M C6 case to build his transmission for his 557 big block mud truck used a 460 flex plate and converter with the engine plate that was on the 351M I think....
