Tung,
no problemo
thanks for keeping me out of trouble with the FTE Gods and their legal dept....
48fan,
sell the rig....cost you more to replace the parts the dork off mechanics ripped off in their ignorance than it is worth
minimum $1000 if you can find a knowledgeable mechanic familiar with the Aero
I still think these dorks who obviously know nothing of how E4WD works have ruined your van, and should pay to either fix it or replace the van. To be quite honest, it is still probably better to have them fix it. A: This is your van, and finding a compable replacement is a hassle. B: When buying a used van, you are buyig an unknown. Was it maintained? Who knows? C: A van of that years with the E4WD books for at least $3,000 dolars, depending on area and demand. Mine books for $4500 where I live. I was fortunate to pay much less than that. Took me a year and a half of searching to find it.
I'm not going to tell you what to do, but I am of the belief that if somebody breaks something, they should either replace it, or at least offer their services in doing so. It doesn't hurt to file a complaint with the BBB.
Hi,
As a backyard "parts replacer", I have had great success finding good parts at a junk yard. Don't sell your truck until you check it out. Many people at junk yards willing to help other people out if you ask.
I hope you can find what you need.
It's a shame those b!#@#s did you wrong.
If it comes down to you having to fix the problems caused by the incompetent mechanics (hopefully with a new mechanic that you can trust), and you go parts shopping at the scrap yard, you may want to pull a transfer case as well as the shafts.
I still can't believe they did this:
"So these parts are causing noise? Let's just remove them."
Just for a sanity check, can you go under the car to take a look at what parts you have left? The transfer case hangs at the back of the transmission. It has a part that sticks out to the driver's side, and the front drive shaft comes out of that toward the front axle. These latter two parts should look like smaller versions of the rear drive shaft and axle. From the sides of the front axle are the half-shafts and CV joints that lead to the front wheels. My site has some pictures that might help you ID these parts:
My suggestion if the engine is good and the van is reliable is to go with a cheaper option. Convert to a rwd trans, xmember and driveshaft, as the transfer case and transmission may have damage
