What about the possibility of using something along the lines of a "MonoLeaf" spring?

Im also working on a 55,and I
have explored some
possiblities.As I understand
it,the monoleaf will give you
a 3" drop w/standard eye 5"
drop with reverse eye.They
also are more effective with
heavier engines, more weight
better ride.They arent reco-
mmended for the rear because
of this.There is multi-leaf
spring called Easy-Rider,they
give a 2 1/4 drop w/standard
eye 3 3/4 drop w/reverse eye.
Both are available from So Cal
Pickups (714)994-1400

Hey and if you're looking at SoCal, check the people they buy many parts for resale from - Classic Performance Products. They're in Buena Park CA just down the road from SoCal. They make power disc brake kits, the power steering and lots of other things. They're cheaper too! Website is <www.classicperform.com> Great people and very helpful.

Mono springs will lower the truck about 4-5 inches. But a word of warning it will give you a harsh ride. I had a set for my 60 and took them off after about a month. The ride was to stiff for a daily driver. In fact if anyone is interested in a set for 57-60 f-100 I'll sell mine for 250 plus shipping, I paid 450 from Carolina Classics. Just drop me a Email. Good luck.

Seems that was removed from my post! classicperform.com
Add the w's at the front. Maybe this will get through the censors!

I used a lowering kit from Mid-Fifty and that set my '55 F100 at a killer stance. I placed a '76 Mercury 9" under it and all is good. This kit had a main leaf that has reversed eyes and you removed some of the old leaves from the original set. It was inexpensive also.
