51 F1 Bumpers
Does anyone know if there is documentation that shows the correct factory-installed rear bumper for the 51 F1? My front bumper has the double hump design. I located a rear bumber that matches this design exactly. Is this factory-correct? In all that I've seen, I either see no bumper in the rear or the flat face style. Does anyone know the real story? Were they all dealer-installed, maybe?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Did you know a rear bumper off a 51 -52 panel truck is the same as a front bumper on the F-1 pick-ups . You will have to fill in the mounting holes that was bolted to the read of the panel truck and drill holes to fit on the front of the pick-ups . Iam looking for a stock rear bumper for a 1951 - 1952 F-1 . Any one have one out there?

Swordfish,
I had a very difficult time finding the matching rear bumper. Most 51/52's that I've seen either had no rear bumpers or don't match the front double hump style that is stock (even the Franklin Mint 51 F1 has no rear bumper). I finally found the rear at Carlisle last year. It had a triangle plate, with a hole in it, that was welded to the outside and used for a hitch ball (this will have to be cut off). It also has to be straightened a tiny bit due to towing damage. But it was solid, so I grabbed it (paid a lot too). If I see another, I will contact you.
Good luck!

The correct rear bumper is indeed a very difficult
part to obtain. I have seen an early bronco bumper
modified that very closely matches the profile. I have
not done a side to side comparison so I could not
tell you exactly what to do but if you look at it you'll
see that it is a good substitute.
