I just wanted to brag on my x. We took our first big trip with the travel trailer. Went from Texas to Florida and back. Have had both for many years but usually only pull the trailer about 75 miles to a spot we like to camp. This trip was 2600 miles total. trailer weighs 8100 pounds loaded. All I can say is "SWEET". The numbers are 10.3 mpg. 2600 miles. used a hair under 1 qt of oil. purred like a kitten all the way, never broke a sweat. Oh and by the way it is a 2000 V10 with 120,000 miles. Best truck I have ever owned. V.Holt
What kind of speeds were you running? Is the mpg hand calculated or from the computer?
Glad to hear you had a great trip. We're planning a trip to Va and OH this summer pulling our 6.5k travel trailer (unless we trade up before then).
The mpg was hand calculated. I acutually got 10.5 on the the way there. Speed was about 65 on interstate. Many times I would almost forget I had the trailer behind me. Truck and trailer were solid as a rock. I could not be more impressed. The only mods I've made to the the truck are blistin shocks and hellwig anti-sway bar. Was thinking about airbags but not sure now if I need them. VHolt. 2000x V10
I got 7 mpg if Florida (I-75) at 65 mpg, cruise on, towing a high profile TT with gross weight of 9,000 lbs. OD off. Am I doing something wrong? Runs like a dream though. Transmission went out once I got down here, though. I was expecting eventual failure, but hoped it would hold off a while. Clasisc second gear diode failure. Missed second gear and thumped into 3rd. Added roadmasters once I got down here. Had problems with stability towing in high wind.

How was the X fixed? Is replacing the 2nd gear diode a big deal? I have 140K on my 2000 X and don't know if the tranny has ever been replaced.
Yeah, they had to rebuild the transmission and put in a new torque converter. I don't think it can be fixed without disassembling the transmission. Your transmission build date is probably prior to the change to the diode.
