Angry Eod4 Tranny Trouble

About 1 year ago I had a slight disagreement with a mud hole and so far it has won. I have a 1991 Ford Bronco and I have replaced the auto locking hubs with manual hubs. After I replaced these I drove the Good ole Ford down the road and it drove well but was shifting very hard. After talking to some people I checked the fluid and it was milky so I drained the fluid and changed out the filter. Well it drove fine for about a week. Here is how it went so if you have experienced this or have any information that could help me it would be greatly appreciated. As I drove down the interstate on the fourth day I slowed down to get off of the interstate the transmission down shifted and made a loud noise like something busted or a seal or something blew out. And fluid hit the engine block and started smoking. Final conclusion the truck had to be towed. It will not do anything. The fluid was milky again after driving it.

When you dropped the fluid out of the transmission pan, did you also drain and flush the cooler and torque convertor? If not it may explain why the fluid is again milky as there was still a large volume of contaminated fluid in the system.

As for why it went bang I couldn't comment. I have an E40D and am awaiting that day. :-(

Milky fluid = Water in transmission.

If your fluid is "milky", you have water in the fluid. Check the connections where the trans-fluid lines connect to your radiator. If you see no abnormalities, replace the radiator. The internal trans cooling line inside the radiator is damaged.
