I was woundering if the factory headunit in an 06 sport with the MP3 single disk with tape player has a port in the back to plug in an ipod. I heard that some Fords have that option. I know that the 07s have an option like that.
I know in the 2007 Ranger brochure it states in late 2007, a external AUX jack will be available. With the Ranger models with the flow-through center console, the jack will be next to one of the cupholders on the console; With the split bench and sport bucket seats, the jack will be located where many models(including mine) have the passenger air bag shut off switch.
So I'd like to know does that mean the air bag switch gets relocated, or deleted with this option(which seems like it'll be standered) and would I be able to remove my airbag switch and purchase the jack to put in its place? Would I need a new head unit, or can I use the one I have? I have an '04.
If thats the case it'd be easier to go aftermarket for a new radio head unit that already has the AUX jack on the face plate for IPods, MP3's and etc.
I just set up my 2002 for an Ipod. I have a Sony Xplod head unit and i bought the $50 Ipod controller box that plugs into the CD changer port on the head unit. The Ipod has perfect sound quality and i operate it through the head unit, instead of jacking around with the IPod.
