Nice forum, glad I found it
Hello All,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm fairly new to Ford truck ownership, my first purchase is a '75 F600 truck with a 14' box (white with a rollup door). It gets horrible gas mileage, is slower than molasses, the brakes are a bit finicky, the cab is rusty, and there's probably no end to the maintenance I'll need to do. It's impractical in a million ways, but for some reason, I'm sticking with it. Maybe it's the simplicity--just a big gas engine, four-speed transmission, drum brakes, manual choke, big ol' 20" truck tires. Maybe it's because the motor is recently rebuilt, and should last just about forever. Maybe it's because it's great to have a vehicle that holds about as much as a small garage. I don't know.
Anyways, I'd like to hear more from anyone who is working on an old F600, especially if you can tell me details about the FT330 motor, the frame-mounted brake booster, driveshaft bearing replacement, or whatever you've had to do to your truck. Send me a note.
Thanks,
Mike
