Hello!
First off I want to let you guys know I’ve been learning a lot reading the forums and want to thank you for sharing your valuable info.
About me: Bay area guy who was bit by the truck bug early on. Pops had all kinds of trucks but the one I remember the most was the ’35 Ford. It had an olds 455 in it for a while until my uncle blew the motor racing a vette. That little truck was a mover! It was in the process of getting a flat head motor until it had to be sold. Loved that truck and will always be on the lookout for it. I plan on buying her back from the guy she was sold to!
My current trucks are my daily driver 2012 F150 XLT crew cab 4x4, v8. Great truck! I’m very impressed by the quality ford has been delivering lately. Very well built and drives like a car and I can’t say enough about how roomy it is. My buddy liked it so much he went out and bought a 2013 F150 XLT! That's saying a lot. Keep it up, Ford! Second truck is actually me and my 16 yro son’s 1966 F100 LB. It’s a custom cab running an auto and a 352, 8. Got a great deal on it from another buddy of mine. The previous owner before him went through the whole truck including a rebuilt motor and tranny. It’s very solid and has very little rust. My son and I have been getting it ready for him to drive to school this year. I’m really glad he finds it “cool”. He has a huge smile on his face every time he’s behind the wheel, it's great to see. He’ll be the only teen driving a 1960’s era vehicle to school I can guarantee you that. All of his other buddies are into ricers and weed wacker sounding tail pipes. I’m really glad he didn't fight me on wanting to keep it stock. It could have gotten ugly - You know how these know-it-all teens can be he can be now a days! We plan on painting it in 2 tone marlin blue and white, even though it was a solid blue I believe (current paint is a faded and chipping midnight blue). The only thing I plan on changing on her is the front brakes (disk) and moving the gas tank out back. I’m thinking about going to power steering also but that will be a project for later. Oh, we are adding 3 point shoulder belts next week. (Thanks everyone for the threads on that!)
I’ll post some pics later. In the meantime, I have some questions I’m hoping you guys can help me with. I’ll be posting soon.
Good to be here!
