The thing that makes a roller cam different from a flat tappet cam is the lifters. A roller cam uses roller tipped lifters, there are no rollers on the cam itself, the only real difference with it is how it's finished. On a flat tapped cam the lobes are unfinished, just a rough casting, only the bearing surfaces are polished. On a roller cam both the bearing and cam lobe surfaces are polished. This is to give the roller lifters a smooth low friction profile to follow.

P.S. And yes, you already have roller lifters.
