heater fan
I am looking at replacing the heater fan control in the dash, because it will run on high if I throw the switch a few times. No other speeds of the fan will work. Do you think I am headed in the right direction?

Do you have just the standard heater, or do you have factory A/C as well?
I would guess it is more likely the blower motor resistor is bad.
When the switch is on high, it bypasses the resistor altogether.

I just reread your first post and I must have missed the "Throw the switch a few times to make it work on high" part. This does suggest a switch may be needed.
Before replacing anything, I would test them first however.
Remove them from the power connector and hook them up to a voltmeter set to ohms. This way you can tell exactly what you need. You may need a switch and resistor. Or just one or the other.
