just replaced my PS pump, when I did my water pump .. ahhh steering was SO much easier. Now, about 900 miles later, back to the same thing .. growling, HARD to turn the wheels even while moving slowly. No fluid on the ground, no leak. Could this truck just be killing the pumps ???
How's the tire tread? I have a rebuilt pump sitting on "the shelf" waiting to be installed, but it's not required quite yet I found out. I put new tires on and the no/slow speed steering is way better than it was with worn tires. Just something else to consider...

Did you replace the fan belt with a stock/oem unit or an aftermarket auto part store variety? If it was an oem belt, I would consider warranty PS pump replacement.
Also, does the problem occur while your foot is on the brake pedal? They are tied together and the brakes may be using a lot more pump pressure than it should, but if there was any weakness it would show up. Try checking it in nuetral with brakes applied and off while turning the wheel and see if there is a difference. May be a belt problem.
