Colume Shifter problem park into drive
A question for you, I have a 2004 Excursion 29,000 miles 6.0 Liter. Lately I noticed that I have to push the brake pedal further down to get the shifter to move from park to drive. In fact it has become somewhat difficult at times to get the shifter to move. I will be scheduling a service but I am curious if anyone has seen this and what the outcome was? Thanks Malcolm.

I had the same problem 10k ago but all I did was wiggle the shifter while pressing the brake and it would find that spot and change. Crazy thing is it stopped acting up after a couple of days. Never has done it again.

I've got the same problem with my '01 and if it doesn't come out of park,I release the brake pedal and push it down again and it usually works.. At first I thought that it was the steering wheel causing it but it wasn't..Because several times when it did it the wheels were turned a bit one way or another.. My suburban would do it and it was because if you turned the car off,it locked the steering wheel and the tranny and you had to turn it a bit after restarting it to release it and the tranny..
