But see that my point exactly.... there are people out there who have no idea why its not a good idea to have blocks up front or that tall...some of you guys make it sound as if its the plauge itself haha. Its not like the thing is gonna fall apart without reason and or warning.. he has time to go ahead and fix it no need to rush and try to pass it onto someone else by selling it.
I know that a poorly built truck isnt something to be taken lightly Im just saying that its not like its out to get ya.

If he was driving it, its entirely possible that it could fall apart without reason or warning. Have you ever seen a truck chuck a block when someone gets on it? Now imagine that on the front, block kicks out, steering cranks to one side, truck goes into opposing traffic and creams a car full of preschoolers. Just keep that thought in your head when you drive somthing like that that is obviously a road hazard and a threat to you and other people on the road.
Ive seen it happen plenty thank you.... but my point is that there are so many of you coming up with hypethetical situations and concerning yourselves with what could happen that you havent told him how to fix it and some have even told him to sell it to somone else to have that happen to them.
And anyway its all off topic from his initial post!!! If you want to debate the construction of his suspension do it in the suspension forum not here...thats all that I'm trying to get across. Im NOT arguing that its not built right but rather that some you have derailed this thread and turned it into something that it shouldnt be.

I think the best thing is to ditch everything and start over with normal sized tires (even if you sell it) and build it up safely. Knowing the laws of your state, I would look at getting a larger GVW truck so you can get max. lift.
Theres one suggestion on how to fix it right there.

Chrono,
Im not gonna post on this anymore I've said my peace and its obvious that youve missed my point... the forums arent a place to argue...if you want to do that do it somewhere else.

This is my step dads truck! Me and my borther have been helping him on it. it has been nothing but trouble. It has not been moved since we bought it home (can not get it to start-wiring done by same idiot that did blocks) I hope to buy it myself. and WILL take the blocks out before it is driven. Thank you all for pointing out a very unsafe problem, and maybe saving lives!!
Now this thing has really got derailed. Lets get back on track here or just drop it.
First, his questions were on lift laws and it looks like there were some good answers. Thanks for those.
Second, sounds like he might be new to the 4x4 world and needs good advice and opinions on the lift that is under the truck he bought. It is very obvious to the veterans that these blocks are very very unsafe and need to go, but remember that there was a time you all didn't know a darn thing about these trucks either. Give some good advice and or help but don't be patronizing. Looks to me like he is headed in the right direction, he came here looking for advice and help knowing there was good experience here. Now we need to show why this is the place to come for that type of help.
Little off topic but, I remember a guy in high school that had a Dodge (yuck) 3/4 ton ext cab. He got some 38" Swampers cheap and decided that they needed to get put on his truck by any means necessary. I remember him tearing around in that thing all of the time. I seen that truck sitting at his parents farm a few years back. SCARY!!! Knowing what I know now he's lucky he never killed himself or anyone else, but back in high school when I was young and dumb I thought that truck looked pretty cool. Education on this stuff (how ever you get it) pays I guess.

More so for a different forum, but, here is an easy solution without getting involved with the explaining.
There are two different cannister coils you can buy. One that expects 9V in from the stock ballast resistor (stock) and one that expects 12V in. Buy a 12V coil, cost about $14.00 for an oil filled one.
Buy one of these (or use a screw driver - but I hate sparks near batteries), a remote starter switch for $10.00
Put a wire from the coil (+) to your starter solenoid.
Put a neg wire from the coil to the dist. with a male/female spade connector in the middle. In case your timing is off or whatever, you can easily reach in from the side or back and yank it open. Which will kill the engine even at 4k rpms.
Turn the key to the on (not start) position.
Use the remote switch to start the truck.
Once you have the truck running, tuned, etc. then decide if you want Duraspark II or the Pertronix II to replace the points in the distributor.
Kind of tired, but, I think I got everything. Someone correct me if I missed something. This is how I get butchered stuff I have bought up and running while I ripped out the bad stuff and returned it to OEM.
We are going to sell the truck. I have listed it in the classifieds in hopes a ford lover will get it.I did warn about the blocks. It is under 68 4x4 if any one whants to look.
