Exclamation Ford V8 script

Still searching for " Ford V8 " script as found on 37 - 40 Ford truck tailgates. I think it was Bobby that suggested Mack Hils as a source. Tried them and came up empty. They wont/cant sell just a stamping due to (Ford) licensing issues.

Fatfenders suggested an ford tractor for just the "FORD" script , but can anyone clarify the years/model of tractor that I'd need to look at?

It is also possible that tailgates from 41 to 52 may have the "FORD" script (minus the " V8 " ). Is that true. Anybody got a 48 - 52 tailgate that isn't worth saving ? I have Cdn money!! Lots of Cdn money with pretty scenes on it!!!!!

Thanks,

I have one. However, the FORD script has a slight dent around it, but nothing bad. Take a look.

Thanks,

I have one already cut out that a guy ordered but never paid for. It is about a foot square with the ford script. I have another tailgate off a 51 F3 with the script also but haven't cut it up yet. Nobody seems to want this tailgate though and it isn't that bad so I hate to cut it up. It is a F3 and it might be bigger? than a F1. What are you planning on doing with just the script?

You can em me at gw65atgwtcdotnet if you are interested.

Gentlemen,

The holy grail would be the "FORD V8" but since that is very unlikely, I would be happy with the FORD script that you both have.

My intent is to graft it into the center of my otherwise totally smooth tail gate.

One from an F1 would great. If the F2/3 is actually larger, that would be even greater.

I will contact you both offline to discuss prices.

Thanks,

O man George, where were you a month or so ago!!! I was looking for a Ford script too. i love the old 48-52 tailgates. I also called a few vendors and didnt get too far. i kinda gave up and bought a later model gate

I found at least one guy that does "step rolling" into sheetmetal, and he said he would do it for a pretty good price. but it would only be 20 gauge steel. which would be kinda thin for a gate but maybe you could double it up.

Ford Script

The Ford Model T originally came with a large Brass Ford script that was wired into the radiator core.

These have been reproduced in Brass and Chrome, and are available through Model T parts suppliers. I've seen several versions...some have holes for screws, some are pinned on the back.

Take a look around for a Model T pic, or try your local book store or library for a T book...there are 100's.

Bill,

Thanks but what George and I are doing the deal on is exactly what I'm looking for. I specifically wanted the script stamped into the sheet metal - not a seperate physical piece.

Just a thought, an artist with an airbrush could do a realistic rendition of your desired emblem?

All the Ford tractors through the 1950's had them on the top of the rear fenders.

I'm a bit late finding this thread, and a bloody long way away, but......

A guy over here in Australia by the name of Gerald Clancy stamps out Ford scripts on new tailgate skins or into chunks of sheet.

He trades as "Gnome Rods", not sure if he is on line.

Sitting next to me as I type is piece of body sheet about 8 x 15 with the Ford script in it which I got from him at a swap a year back........$20 Australian, or about US$15......not sure what that is in Canadian pesos

Sounds like you have what you want, but if anyone else needs one....yell, and I will track him down

On a similar note, I have previously cut "ford", "Powered by Ford" or "V8" out of rocker covers, straightened them out and cut them into panels......with help from better beaters than me. Over here Windsors, Clevelands and 4 cylinders (pinto?) are all good donors

Yes Sir, I realized that...but I added the Model T Ford script info in case some members were unaware of it.

I remember at least one company (think it was LMC) use to sell stamped script plate several years ago for something like $20, but when I tried to order one they said they had been discontinued. I ended up getting a script that was cut out of a junked tailgate from a fellow FTE'r
