If any of the gauges runs below the normal operating ponit then that light comes on. At 35,000 miles my check gauge light came on for absolutely no reason 3 times before i hit 36,000 miles and it freaked me out caue my warranty was almost up and all the gauge were reading fine. I now have 66,500 miles on my truck and as long as i dont run the gas too low which i never do the light doesn't come on, i guess it was just a freak thing.
Sometimes you can even have 1/4 tank of gas & park up or down hill & after you get on level ground your check gauge light will stay on for a little bit....
If I have less than 1/4 tank of gas remaining & park on a slope, with the engine down hill, my "Check Gauge" light will stay on for about 1/2 mile of level driving, just like BearMan said!!!!
