Smile Door Rattle

My truck is one year old now, it has had a driver side door rattle since I got the truck. I thought it was because these trucks have four doors now, but I realize only the drivers side makes the annoying rattle.$#$# Is it fixable (truck underwarrenty) or am I wasting my time making that dreaded trip to the dealer. It makes the noise on rough roads.

Signed,

I hate going to the dealer unless its time to buy a new truck!!!

I believe you describe the same thing I have occur.
Mine does it mainly on cold mornings, and too sometimes when on a bumpy road.
I dug into mine to see what was going on.
It seems to be a cable (or similar housing) that bumps against the interior door panel. I think it is the housing for the cable that operates the door handle/latch release.
I stopped short of removing the panel to try and fix it.
I do believe a piece of foam could be applied to the inside of the door panel where the cable bumps against the panel, and that foam would likely solve the problem.

Does what I describe sound like what you might be hearing?

I bet we have the same problem. Mine occurs on rough roads, potholes and makes the noise whether its hot or cold, it sounds like the system they use to secure the door to the body is not adjusted properly. The passenger side does not make the noise. The rattle reminds me of some cars we had when I was a kid, the cars get old and "rattle"!!!! Well, I guess I will take the dreaded trip to the dealer
