Hi guys, I'm looking for a used/good condition V6 4.2L to be used in a special configuration truck, BUT i don't know to much about the engine history so can you recomend me what years should I try to find/avoid?

Any know problems on those engines?

Any advise will help.

I'd look for one 1999 or newer,
The 1997, and some early 1998 models, were prone to premature failure of the lower intake manifold gasket.
An improved gasket was used starting during the 1998 model year build dates.
Other than the gasket issue, the 4.2 seems to be a pretty good, pretty reliable engine.
