for a few years now most of the older members have known me by capt. but latley i have been getting a lot of pm's and emails about the avatar i'm useing. so i though it might be time to bring every one up to date.

the avatar photo was my old sport fisherman. she's a 1987 OCEAN, S.S. a 48 foot super sport fisherman. that could sleep 6 in the comfort of home, ie, 6 bunks in the combo of 3 state rooms, 2 heads or bath rooms for you non boaters. a full kitchen, has heat and a/c. a 15kw diesel kohler gen set. total full electronics packages with back up units.

when i owned her she had twin detroit diesel 6 -71 tib's from johnson and towers. these were of the 2 stroke design, 6 cylinder in lines of 71 cubic inches per cylinder. or 426 cubic inches. they where both turbo charged and super charged . with the super chargers being standard to make the 2 stroke engine work. they had 485 h.p. each and could push this boat along at a max. of 30 knots plus a little or minus a little depending on sea conditions. this boat since i sold it has been repowered with twin 3196 cats of near the same or more power

as costs got higher, i.e.,fuel.insurance,up keep,limited regulated fish catches, "thanks to purse sieners" user fees and a lot more plus as my personal health started dropping with my age. i sold it and now only run boats for other owners. and only on a part time basis, this boat was run by 2 captains a hired one on week days and me on week ends so the bills could be paid and me to hold my job as both dealership and factory level mechanics. i have in the past worked for ford, VW, detroit diesel . cummins and cat. so psd guys while i drive gas, i do speak and know diesel very well. all total i did 42 years and some months as a mechaic before retireing last year in november . yes guys retired. at 60.

my handle /user name capt./captain. is for real. i hold a 100ton master near coastal license from the U.S. coast guard. which is a captains license that allows me to operate a boat of up to 100 gross tons of weight to a distance of 200 miles off the coast of the USA. this works out depending on the material used to build the boat, 100 feet plus in total length. one i operate is 115 feet long and has 4 MTU/M.B. v 12- 1250 hp marine diesels and runs along at 28 knots for it's size.

also as many of you have seen,i work part time as the computer tech. internet man for one of the FTE sponsers. LEVEL10 power/ levelten performance transmissions just 6 miles from my home here in north west new jersey. i have personally known PAT BARRETT the owner since 1976 and can asure the fte members pat is a great guy with a lot of the back ground that many shops now use. and parts he worked with companies with to help come about in the building/beefing of the units. it's not uncommon to see big wigs from companies like raybestus and a few others at his shop.
shop walls are not big enough for all the magizine write ups he has done on auto trannie build ups. with more to be along after new years in diesel power and fast fords and mustangs.. ford is spoken very well in this shop. our phone lines never stop all day long with people asking for help.
