An other option is many of the big trucks I have driven have flush mount block heater connections . I would think that they would be just as easy to find .

I've looked at a couple of the big truck stops for something like that and haven't had any luck....even went to a dealer and they didn't have any. I guess it depends on where you are located.

Regarding the use of the extension cord...

On my '02 F250, the existing block heater lines are not long enough to reach down to the plastic below the bumper. I've seen pics of one guy's installation where he went through the chrome bumper for his installation, but I personally don't like the idea of doing that. In order to get down to the black plastic shourd below the bumper, my existing lines are going to have to be extended, which is what the short extension cord is going to accomplish for me. Additionally, putting the black Marinco adapter in the stock black plastic shroud looks great together... almost like OEM.

Ahh....didn't think about the length of the block heater cord. I guess it will depend on where you want to mount it.

See, now that's the kind of thing I would figure out AFTER I cut the cord! That kinda stuff is what makes this site great!

Thanks

Hey guys... a little off topic, but related all the same, and I just wanted to share it with you guys.

One of my co-workers just ot a new Toyota P/U, and was talking about some of the features that came stock in his new ride. The one that really piqued my interest was the 110/115 volt receptacle on his back bumper. What a great idea! if you're off in the woods, out in the field, etc. and need to use an electric power tool, just start up teh truck, plug in the tool, and get to work!

Maybe this isn't so new to some or most of you, but I had never thought of it before, and can see some really good use from that kind of feature. At the same time, though, I honestly don't think I have a real practical use for it right now, but will certainly investigate the installation cost and keep it in mind for the future.

Yeah, one of my friends has got one of the tacomas with that plug in it, but I think it actually puts out less wattage while the engine is running, which makes no sense to me at all.

Nice work. Good clean install.

I'm going to do mine this weekend, hopefully along with my bypass oil system, AIH delete, CCV, and 6637 install. Gonna be a busy Friday afternoon and Saturday.

You hit the nail on the head. The black rubber cover blends in with the plastic piece and you hardly see it, unless the it has a bright orange cord hanging out of it. Besides, if you have to pull the bumpe for any reason,(which I did 2 days after the install) it gives you a little more room to move it around and get under there with the little extention cord.

I had to use my block heater for this first ever yesterday. See below:

She started up no problem.

Ok, unhijack.
