Sorry I don't have a pic but #1 is the front cylinder on the passenger bank and if your distrib has not been disturbed it should be at the one o'clock position on the dizzy. Remember the distributor turns counterclockwise.

This is the first time I have tried to copy a picture into a post so I hope this works. This is from my Chiltons manual (Auto Zone- $14.00) Hope this helps, gr

If the picture did not go through, then the fireing order is: 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
The distributer rotation is: Counterclockwise
Here is the weird part: Ford is numbering the cylinders at #1: passenger front (looking at the front of the truck. #'s 2,3,4, are all on the passenger side. # 5 is the driver's front and 6,7,8, are all on the driver's side. When I bought my new cap (1991 F-350 with a 351), it had #1 stamped in the cap. If yours does not, then I will describe it the best I can. The cap should only clip on one way. Going from the clip that should be facing the driver's front: counterclockwise, you have: 4-8-1-3-clip-7-2-6-5. I hope this helps, gr

thankx alot, I have owned ford trucks all my life. I have never really got into restoring what I consider to be the ultimate hunting, fishing and ultimate fun truck as much as I have this one. I definetely know where to come now if I have any questions. I will post pictures of my truck as I progress if I can? Thanks so much, By the way, my name is Jeff and I am from the heart of the Appalachian Mountains so my trucks are always pushed to the limits and have always outperformed everything else on the market and always done it with convincing fashion!!!!

If This Motor Was Rebuilt The Mechanic May Have Put The Distributor 180 Degrees Off And That May Be The Problem If You Think It Should Be Correct! This Happened To Me I Took It Back And Had The Mechanic Do It Correct. Good Luck!

Yeah, you have to watch out for that. I have also seen that where the installer gets the distributor 180 degrees out and just walks the wires around the cap instead of pulling it out and doing it right. If you get a good quality distributor cap it will usually have #1 marked on it. I have noticed the cheapies you get at Autozone don't have this anymore.

Does any one know about the 90 300 6 cylinder F150, I can't get any spark,it has power going to the distributer ...though I was told it should be "pulsating" I hook a light to the coil while turning it over and the light came on but no spark! I replaced the coil, Coil Wire, and Ignition module.still no spark. I bought a Coil wire off the shelf at the local parts store. I didnt ask for a "90 F150 coil wire" could this be the problem?
I was told by a parts man that its the "PCM" (Powertrain Control Module) Any one know about this? Is this a symtom of a faulty PCM?

find #1 plug remove it! put ur finger in the hole! have some one else roll the motor over, untill u feel the piston push air out the hole, now it should be on the compression stroke! slowly roll the motor over with a small screw driver or a wooden doll in the spark plug hole till the piston bottoms out at the top of its stroke! remove the cap the rotor should be pointing at #1, start there! and go counter clockwise! hope that helps!!
