I inherited a 1990 F150 2WD Lariat extended cab with the 460 from my father, with 17,000 miles.
It's a tow vehicle for the matching 24 foot 5th wheel.
I've got a 5 year old son, and soon enough he's going to be too big to be comfortable in that straight-backed back seat... as it is, his carseat sits very upright, almost pushes him out.
I'm wondering if anybody's done a swap to a later model back seat that's a little taller, more comfortable?
You can put the rear seat frame from a newer model in, I did it but all that really does is raise the seat instead of it sitting on the floor as it does now. Oher than that, They have stayed the same for years, in fact I think they are still the same if you buy and EX-CAB instead of a crew cab. Good luck. To find the taller seat frame just look in the junk yards, I changed everything on mine because my interior was still like new and I wanted it to match. It is a little more confortable to sit back there but I am 6'3" and weigh in about 275 so its pretty hard for me to very comfortable in anything
Which year did you get the frame from? if so I too am interested in getting the seat off the floor! are there any drawbacks like the seat not folding etc.
