Tranny quit
The transmission (automatic 4 speed with Overdrive button on shifter) on my truck (5.8 eng) started acting wierd last night, stopped for traffic light, light changed, step on gas and nothing engine revs truck does not move. Turn the engine off and re-start tranny bumps into motion. This was repeated several times on the way home. On the final stretch engine was starting to over rev slightly. I babied the truck for the last 1/4 mile and rolled into the driveway.
Put truck in park slightly revved the engine prior to shutting it off engine sounds OK but there was definitely some drive train noise I have not heard before. Any ideas as to the problem, note when the tranny did kick in it pulled normally and then would fade away after a short time. Seems that the warmer the engins or tranny got the worst it was (Florida weather still in T-shirt and shorts). Just what I wanted for Christmas truck maintenance.
