O my god, i just figured out something that is BAD!!!!! well, i was strpping rust off of small parts on my 59, and while putting the accelorator linkage in the acid bath(lime away w/ CLR and water) and after a few days i pulled it out and it fell apart in my hands. does anyone know what kind of metal the accelorotor linkage is made out of? The peice that coonects the accelorator pad, through the firewall, and too the carb. thanks.

Russell, I am not sure of the kind of metal, but the Ford part # is B7C-9725-A and called the "accelerator assembly". In the ford parts manual, you F-100 is listed as model "C". This may help you in getting a replacement.

Bin there did that.
I tried RustMort on a few small hex head screws from my MGA. I forgot them for a couple of days. When I remembered to get them out of the acid they looked OK. Then I wiped them with a rag. The threads smeared right off! Surprise, acid disolves metals of all kinds. Never again, I follow the instructions.
