Lowering a '51

I would like to lower the front of my F-1 a little. Maybe 1" to 2". I think I read a while back on this board that you can accomplish this by removing some of the spring leaves. How many leaves should be left in place to lower 1" to 2"? Which leaves do you remove? Every other one or all from the bottom? How will this affect drivability? Remember, I'm not talking about "down in the weeds", I plan to drive the truck regularly. Any ideas or good experiences anyone has had would be appreciated.

I would not remove any leaves. I would buy a reverse eye main leaf. I removed some of the leaves on my 53, and it drives terrible. I makes the spring pack too weak. Plus, your u-bolts end up being too long afterward. You can experiment, but don't expect very good results.

A guy with a '48 put his axle on top off the spring to lower his truck.

Thanks for the input guys. I can't go to reverse eyes, it would interfere with the modified steering setup I have. If I was to put the axle on top of the springs, I would only have about 1/4" of travel until it contacted the rubber bumper on the frame. I think my best bet is to leave well enough alone.

What kind of junk yard sway bar can I use for my stock suspension 52 with some spring leaves removed?
