[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Nov-02 AT 12:54 PM (EST)]Either your IAC is a little stuck and should be cleaned or you have a vacuum leak on the intake manifold or a vacuum hose problem. When it is at idle, you can remove the electrical connector on the IAC. The idle should drop down to the point the engine almost doesn't run. I'd clean the valve anyway with some carb cleaner. At this age the throttle body also gets quite a coating of gunk which could be sticking the butterfly open. Remove rubber air duct and cover. Open throttle and spray away and wipe with a rag.
