everyone's name on the lease sounds good in principle. but you're asking for trouble trying that with real people. i don't mean normal people who share an apartment for economic reasons. i mean people who rent a room because they're too irresponsible to get their own place.
1/2 of an apartment isn't worth **** if you have someone like that living in the other half, making noise at all hours and whatever else. you won't be able to live in your own place. neither will anybody else. and your landlord will tell you to suck it.
you're better off having the whole apartment in your name so you can make the important decisions like who stays and who goes.
I have been in this exact situation a few times. 1/3 makes the most sense. My buddy and I where splitting everything in 1/2. his girlfriend moved in, we started splitting everything 1/3, even though the bills went up almost double when she moved in. Women generally use more elec. more water, more heat than guys.
The appartment my son lives in off campus has 3 bedrooms each with its own bath, with a common area, balcony, kitchen/dinning area and small laundry room. Each pays 450 per month.electric/untility /cable/internet included..Its overpriced

I made a mistake, It has 4 bedrooms.........The entire apartment is no more than 1000 square feet.......4x450=1800 bucks a month, thats alot. you can rent a big house thats valued over 200k here for less than that Charlotte nc
