I have just run my first tank of DK (grey) through my 05 and wanted to get some advice on how much I should be adding to each tank. I have the long bed (38 gal) and I added about 16oz to the tank. Should I be adding more or less to each tank or what. By the way, after running DK through the truck, I noticed a little more pep and about a mile per gal increse, so im pretty happy with it.
Thanks guys.
If you would have looked in the Tech folder, and on several other threads here via the search method, you would know that .64 oz. per gallon is the max cetane benifit ratio. Whatever your average fill up is, (mine is 25 gallons 25X.64 = 16 oz.) Your average fill up is probably 32 gallons so 32X.64 = 20.48 or 20oz. per fillup.

Oh man... I am so confused....
What if I drive an Excursion and I have a 44 gallon tank?
Is that 44 X.64 = 28oz???
Just had to post instead of reading the bottle.
Oh, by the way I use 32oz per fill-up as this is 3 refills per the 96oz jugs (32 X 3 = 96) I buy. I refill a camping fuel MSR bottle to store my 32oz at a time so it is secure and easy to use at each fill-up.
Hey Beach, At least someone went to the same school or era as me. Mike
What school or era is that?
I went to "read the owner's manual" and "read the bottle" school and I am in my 40's... so I know how to read and think for myself... so are we from the same school and era???

I just got my two MSR bottles in the mail this past week. Thanks for the advice on them (and yes, I did give you reputation points for ALL of the great fuel and oil answers you contribute. Thanks for that as well).
Yeah the real problem is that powerservice didnt write down any of your calcs on the bottle. Im not stupid. It dosent have a specific oz to gal calc on the bottle. I cant read what isnt there.
You have to do basic math. It list 2 different treatment concentrations, one for max and the other for minimum. The minimum is enough to treat the fuel but the max gives you the extra cetane boost. From that you decide how you want to mix it, divide the fluid ounces in the bottle from the gallons treated on the table. This will give you the treatment amount per gallon. Multiply treatment per gallon by the gallons per fill up(usually averaged by what you normally fill up at each time). This number is the total ounces of treatment for that gallon amout of diesel that needs added at fill up.
Example
96 oz treats 300 gallons(min. concentrate required to be affective)
96oz treats 150 gallons(max concentrate, anything more is a waste)
Average fill up=25 gallons
96oz/300gal=.32oz/gal
.32oz/gal x 25 gal=8oz(needed at fill up of 25 gallons)
96oz/150gal=.64oz/gal
.64oz/gal x 25 gal=16oz(needed at fill up of 25 gallons)
Adjust the gallons at fill up to meet your needs or use the max your tank will hold. If you purchase a different bottle size just adjust the equation in ounces to match your bottle. Hope this helps break it down for you and I hope I did not screw up my math and do it wrong. Anything is possible!!!!
Just to throw another question out, What's the thought on additives if you run 5% bio or more? every tank, once a month, never? I can get 5% bio in #2 or premium and I know my engine really sounds loud if I run straight dsl fuel. I have always run DK in the every tank but was wondering if the extra cost of the additive was justified.
