Brush guard

Where's the cheapest place to get a good black brush guard that keeps the tow hooks? Post a pic if you have one. Thanks!

www.ranchhand.com www.frontier-gear.com (the one I have). They aren't cheap, $400 or so. These are fully welded, one piece units that bolt to the frame.

I don't understand why people always want the cheapest stuff. Nothing wrong with quality stuff for the best price though. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Oh I don't want the cheapest product, just the cheapest price. I want it to protect the front end, not just look good. I've already been looking at the Ranch Hand but just can't find a place to get one. I read on another site that guys out in Texas bought theirs for $300-350 but the only place that carries them here quoted me $550. Where can I get one of those Frontiers? You have any pics of yours? Thanks!

I'll try or get some pics in a few days. That's been on my "to do" list for awhile now.

Those look way too aggressive without a lift, 35's and a winch IMO. A simple bull bar would look much better.

Brush Guard

GA FX4, Try the Waag or Manik brush/Grille guards, I've had the misforntune of hitting a Mulie with my '99 F150 4x4 with a Manik guard in place. No trk damage but the right side of the guard took a hard hit, but survived well enough to be fixed. They are not cheap in construction or dollars. [ $400.] But both are powered coated & offer 3/8'' round stock headlight guards. Very handy for Birds. Give'm a look see,

Have you looked at the Go-Rhino Step guards? If I was to get one, that's what it would be. The step really seems like it would come in handy. Those Ranch hand products are nice, but in my opinion are better suited for Super Duty Trucks. I actually already have some steps on order from Go-Rhino, and will see the quality before I get a guard.

Oh, and the price is around $450 shipped for black.

brush/grille guard

LilDouce,,,,The Waag & Manik grille/brush guards both allow the tow hooks to used. In fact the guards cannot be installed until the hooks are removed. Both the guards furnish bolts for that REinstall of the tow hooks. The bottom of the grille guard is bolted to the frame WITH the hooks in place. Waag & Manik guards can be found on the net as I have done many times for others. These guards fit perfect & are bent to fit the trk Grill at the angle of the grille..

The small whitetail we have have down here are on the rural roads in hoards every night. The roads in the morning are littered with their carcasses. For this the buzzards are happy and the insurance companies aren't. I have hit two with my grill guard and the only damage sustained was a scratched lower valance, by a pathetically small 8 point rack and a slightly bent outer hoop on my grill guard, by a nice fat doe. Each instance probaly saved me several hundreds if not into the lower thousands in repairs.

I have to second ya. Growing up in Central Texas my dad totalled 2 vehicles by hitting a deer and a cow and finally started putting "cow killers" on our trucks. I haven't hit a deer with one yet, but one time I nailed a Mustang GT going 30 mph in a 98 F-150 with Westin Brushguard. I backed off the car and drove the truck home with a broken liscense plate mount. The GT got towed to a junk yard.

I'm looking for a nice design for my truck. Everything I've seen so far looks like some sort of Alien mind designed it. There is a local shop in Temple Texas that custom builds brushguards. I think I'll probably end up getting one built there out of 1/8" steel to look like an ARB bumper/grill guard

I've also found these bull bars.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Bull-...QQcmdZViewItem

but, they don't allow for the retention of the factory tow hooks. however, if the bull bar is as beefy and well built as it looks, you should be able to hook a tow line to the cross-over bar.
