Looking for My Daddy's '53

I'm scanning the web, looking for the '53 that was my father's project
truck.
I have the VIN and registration numbers.
My Daddy passed in '99 and my wicked stepmother ceased all contact with me and sold his truck

It was sold in Ohio, in '00 (I believe)...but who knows where it is now

Don't worry, I'm not some nut, just a little girl, trying to find the one thing he loved as much as me

Maybe you or someone you know has, or has seen it?
I appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks,
Aubree

When the very nice lady at the state title division gave me the numbers
....she also ran a trace, and so far no one has transfered it
Luckily, she probably didn't even know it was titled in the first place....but she never put his possessions through probate (no will) and never filed anything through the county....i.e. she sold it illegally.
I don't mind paying whoever has it....I just want to find it

Thanks again

It just occured to me that you could try running an ad in Old Cars Weekly or contract the local Effie clubs.
I finally found my stepmother's new phone number and got the courage to call her tonight.
She first said she sold it to my cousin (her side)......then she said maybe they parted it out.......then said he called her only a couple weeks ago asking about the title.
My guess is that he's got it....wants the title now to sell it.
She said she has no idea where the title is.
(Um maybe because she never filed a transfer or put his estate through probate).......so essentially she sold it illegally.
However, I will try to get the title in my name and then call and see if he has it.
She told me on the phone tonight that "it was just a bunch of metal, only a truck, can't bring your father back, and doesn't mean anything"
SHE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND!
My Daddy and I spent long hours together in his garage working on cars (and trucks!).....it's a part of him....his love.....next to his little girl!!!
(BTW...to help you all understand.....she had some guy move in MY DADDY'S house only a month after he passed...she can get a new husband, but I can't get a new Dad!.....
I just want to make him proud.......finish it like he would have.....and keep it forever!
I hope you guys don't think I'm a nut.

Thank you....I'll keep you posted on what happens.
And if any of you live in Ohio (Near Fairborn).....and want to go with me to get it if I find it there let me know! I'm a just a little redhead and need some big ol' motorheads watching my back!

I wouldn't wait too long - if the title is lost, her nephew could apply for a replacement if she gives him a bill of sale. If I were you I'd find an attorney to check out the transaction and see if you have legal grounds to reposess the truck.
I don't think you'll need muscle if the truck was sold illegally.

I contacted an attorney awhile back, but I live down in Florida, and the truck (and people in question) are all in Ohio

My next step is to contact the title office again, and see if I can get the title in my name quickly.
I contacted an attorney yesterday, and am waiting on a response.
My uncle and cousins (her side) own an auto body and repair shop, and in my research I found there is an auto glass company that filed a judgement against them recently. (in the amount of 8 grand)...I know the plaintiff's name and his lawyer.......We're talking fairly small town here, and it's possible that this gentleman was the guy my Daddy bought his rear window glass for the Effie from (three times until he got it in without cracking it!)
In any case, it's difficult to find a lawyer to help me, but maybe this lawyer, because he already knows of these people, will lend a helping hand
(I can only hope)Also, my stepmother told me that an old friend of my father's had some pieces of the truck at his garage (and salvage yard)...I'm going to give this guy a shot, maybe he will tell me the truth....seeing as he didn't like my stepmother anyway

So those are my next leads.......I wish I could just drive up there and find it

(Incidentally, when my husband called my Uncle awhile back, he said they never had it....but they DID have one they'd CHOPPED
for sale (5 grand).....I hope it DOESN'T turn out to be my Daddy's
So.....I'll post as soon as I know more
Keep your fingers crossed
